June 2011 RES WITHDRAWS PARK HEAD WIND FARM APPLICATION
RES has withdrawn the application for nine wind turbines to be located on land at Park Head Farm, approximately 10km north-west of Morpeth, Northumberland but continues to review its options for the site.
The decision comes following the consent of a neighbouring project, Wingates Wind Farm, by the local planning authority and the rejection of RES' request for an adjournment for the Park Head Wind Farm Public Inquiry, scheduled to start on the 29 June 2011 by the Planning Inspectorate. RES looked to obtain a four month review period to allow them to address changes to their application necessary as a result of the Wingates Wind Farm planning consent. The Planning Inspectorate rejected this request and RES subsequently have withdrawn their appeal application.
Development Project Manager for Park Head Wind Farm, Dan Leahy, said; "We requested a postponement of the Inquiry for at least 4 months in order to effectively address material changes in circumstances as a result of the Wingates Wind Farm planning consent. We felt a postponement was wholly appropriate under the circumstances and as it was refused, we felt our only option was to withdraw from the appeal. We are presently considering our options for submitting a revised scheme to address these material changes. Park Head is a fantastic site for a wind farm and we are keen to ensure that any project RES undertakes is well designed, is compatible with other developments in the area and is sensitive to the local community."
